Rafael started Sanchez Gardening when he was laid off after 9 years at The Oaks Mall. Unwilling to go through that again, he decided to form his own company ("Oh, the naïveté!" he says now). With the support of his wife, family, and friends, Rafael launched his business in 1994 and has slowly grown it to what it is now.

Rafael loves his job and enjoys collaborating with his clients to beautify their yards.

When prepping day came he was able to seal the side of the garden bed so water wouldn't get into the house, then the prepped the soil, planted everything, and installed sprinklers. Everything's blooming very nicely now with no die-offs, and we're getting a lot of compliments from our neighbors.     I needed yard work and two trees pulled so I called a few different places and ended at Sanchez Gardening. I am real glad I did as I talked to Rafael and he gave me a very good price. He was very easy to talk to and he gave me ideas as to how he could take care of my problem yard.

    We moved into our home with the intention to go drought tolerant but didn't have concrete plans. What we didn't expect was a winter of rain to turn our yard into a forest of weeds. Cut to Rafael who not only responded to my call within an hour but was also able to give us an estimate a day early.

    Within a week he and his team were at our house cleaning up all the weeds and dead grass thereby giving us a clean slate to start our drought tolerant landscape, trimmed the hedges, cleaned up the grass in the backyard and gave our Pomelo tree a much needed haircut. The price was fair, the work was quality and Rafael is incredibly friendly and easy to work with.

    I called Sanchez Gardening on Saturday to get a quote and was fortunate enough that Rafael was only a few minutes away. He came by and gave me a comparable quote to others, but his timeliness and the sense of reliability he exuded set him apart. Additionally, he was able to do the work the following Monday. I don't know if there's such a thing as an urgent gardening project, but if there is, mine was it, so I was relieved to have it taken care of so promptly.

    It wasn't a small job—months of neglect coupled with this spring's crazy rain had the yard overgrown. But he and a partner arrived Monday morning at 10, and a few hours later had the place looking beautiful. I am now considering contracting him for regular cleanup. Beyond satisfied with the work he did.
